Calling all pet lovers! Your furry friends are in for a treat. Join Homer Township’s PetFest for an unforgettable afternoon filled with interactive stations, unique community bonding experiences, and a chance to make a difference for our four-legged companions. It’s all happening at Homer Township’s second annual PetFest, held at Town Center Park (Heritage Park) on 14354 West 151 Street from noon to 3 p.m on June 15. A celebration of shared love for animals and the community.
Vicki Bozen, Homer Township Clerk, has been the driving force behind the scenes, tirelessly preparing with other members for this pet palooza. She shared, “We’ve all put in a lot of effort, and we’re hopeful that our community will come together, step outside, and join us for a day of fun and excitement.”
In its second year, the PetFest is not just about fun but also about making a difference. This year, the PetFest is proud to support Chrislin Farm, located at 14862 West 143rd Street, and its owner Christy Nahser’s mission to rehabilitate horses and teach English riding. “We will be selling T-shirts made for this year’s event; all proceeds and donations will go towards her mission,” added Bozen, “Your contribution can make a real difference. By participating, you are directly supporting the welfare of these animals. You might even meet a few miniature horses from Nahser’s stable!”
Families will have a chance for some quality outdoor time, with over 20 vendors to explore and learn from. There will be interactive tables like the ‘Reptile’ station, where folks can learn more about reptiles and amphibian friends. And don’t forget the photo opportunities! It’s a day packed with fun and learning for everyone.
But wait, there’s more: participate in the pet parade where your pup, cat, or even your turtle is welcome in a chance to win the ‘Best Dressed’ event.
