This upcoming Saturday, September 21, is National Seat Check Saturday.

The Tinley Park Police Department is sponsoring a child seat checking event from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Tinley Park Fire Department’s Training parking lot; located at 7750 West 183rd Street (East parking lot next to Police Station).

Dina Navas, Tinley Park’s Civilian Crime Prevention Officer, wrote to WCCN that “Certified child passenger safety technicians from the Tinley Park Police Department and the Illinois State Police will be working together on Saturday.”

There are strict laws in place for juveniles safety while traveling inside motor vehicles. The Office of the Illinois Secretary of State has outlined the ‘Child Safety Seat Guidelines’ for the age groups of Newborns-Ages 2, Ages 2-4, Ages 4-8 and Ages 8-12 which you can read about here.

At the Tinley Park event, technicians will check to make sure that your child safety seat is installed correctly and will answer any questions about ‘Child Safety Seat Guidelines.’

For more information about “Child Safety Seats” visit Tinley Park’s website listed here.

Special thank you to Dina Navas (Civilian Crime Prevention Officer).
