Party City Begins to Close Down All Stores

On Thursday, December 19, the CEO of Party City, Barry Litwin, informed corporate employees that the company would have to began closing down immediately. Corporate staff were told this would be there last day of work.

“It’s really important for you to know that we’ve done everything possible that we could to try to avoid this outcome,” Litwin said. “Unfortunately, it’s necessary to commence a winddown process immediately.”

Last year in January, 2023, Party City filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

There has been no set date for store closings as of Friday, December 20 with 32 locations within Illinois.

  • Crestwood
  • Elgin
  • Hoffman Estates
  • Orland Park

Will County:

  • Joliet
  • Mokena
