After a hard-fought second-place finish at the Big Dipper Tournament (on December 29, 2024), the Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings (14-2, 6-0) were eager to channel their competitive fire into their next game.
On January 7, the Carl Sandburg Eagles (7-7, 1-5) arrived at HF, 999 Kedzie Ave, Flossmoor, for a regular-season Southwest Suburban Conference matchup, but it quickly became clear this would be a lopsided contest.
FINAL: Homewood-Flossmoor 91, Carl Sandburg 31.
The WCCN Player of the Game, having 31 points, 3 steals and 3 assists, was freshman point guard Darrius Hawkins Jr.
Head Coach Jamere ‘JD’ Dismukes told WCCN about Hawkins Jr. saying “by the time he is a junior/senior, I think the whole country is going to know who he is.”
WCCN also spoke with senior shooting guard Kyle Polk.
A special thank you to HF Athletics, JD (HF Head Coach), and John Daniels (Carl Sandburg Head Coach).
