By Claude Martinez.

On February 1, the Romeoville Coed Cheer team earned a spot in the IHSA State Championship at the Farmington sectional as a Large team, marking their fifth consecutive state qualification.

Additionally, the team has claimed the Southwest Prairie Conference Championship for the past three seasons.

Head Coach Tyeler DelRose, in her first year as head coach, has been coaching at Romeoville for five years. She shared her thoughts on transitioning into the head coach role, highlighting her gratitude for the team’s growth.

WCCN also spoke with several varsity cheerleaders, including seniors Rylee Hedemark, Jocelyn Miller, Eleanor ‘Ellie’ Brady, Marc Thomas, Michael Krzeptowski, Ty English, Ella Gage, Ashley Roppolo, and Ava Henson; juniors Lesli Behl and Mia Ortiz; and freshman Abigail Roppolo.

The Romeoville Spartans Coed Cheer team will compete in the IHSA State Finals on February 7-8 at the Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.

Special thank you to Romeoville Athletics and head coach Tyeler DelRose.
