On February 21, the Crete-Monee Warriors (18-12; 6-6 SLC) hosted the Thornwood Thunderbirds (14-17; 4-8 SLC) in their regular-season finale, marking their Senior Night. The game was also a Southland Conference matchup.
Crete-Monee boasted a talented roster made up solely of juniors and seniors. Seven seniors were honored before the game: Jaylen Blakes, Zion Gordon, Jayden Watts, Jordan Outlaw, Jayden Preston, Robert Kennedy, and Jamarri Williams.
For Thornwood, a standout performance from a freshman, supported by the leadership of a junior, helped keep the game competitive.
FINAL: Thornwood 58, Crete-Monee 45.
The WCCN Player of the Game, junior point guard Jordan Jones, finished with 24 points.
Another standout from the game was freshman guard Mekhi Young, who contributed 12 points.
Special thank you to Deoplus Williams (Thornwood head coach) and Jawan Nelson (Crete-Monee head coach).
