Crestwood – St. Patrick’s Day marked the season opener for the 2025 campaign as the Crete-Monee Warriors hosted the Oak Lawn Community High School Spartans at Ozinga Field (14011 Kenton Ave, Crestwood) on a chilly, windy afternoon.
The starting pitcher for the Warriors was junior right-hander Dylan Dee, while junior left-hander John Olejniczak took the mound for the Spartans.
At the end of two innings, Oak Lawn led 6-0 and would go on to dominate the remainder of the game, securing a 17-2 victory.
The WCCN Player of the Game was junior left-handed pitcher John Olejniczak, who pitched four innings and recorded eight strikeouts.
Another standout Spartan was Jackson Hilger, who went 2-for-4, scored three runs, and stole two bases. He also scored the first run of the season.
Special thank you to William Gerny (OLCHS head coach) and Brad Meyer (C-M head coach).
