Six Local Players Selected in 2025 MLB Draft

Cumberland, GA – The 2025 MLB Draft took place in Georgia from July 13–14, featuring 20 rounds of selections. While not all prospects were able to attend in person, several official announcements and signings took place for various MLB organizations.

From Illinois, a total of 16 players were drafted, including six athletes from Will and Cook Counties who played at either a local high school or university.

Round 2, Pick 44 – Jaden Fauske (Nazareth Academy) → Chicago White Sox
Outfielder — Bats L, Throws R

Round 5, Pick 157 – Conor Essenburg (Lincoln-Way West) → Atlanta Braves
Outfielder — Bats R, Throws L

Round 12, Pick 370 – George Bilecki (Lewis University) → San Diego Padres
Outfielder — Bats L, Throws L

Round 17, Pick 506 – Luke Mensik (Lincoln-Way Central) → San Francisco Giants
Pitcher — Bats L, Throws L

Round 17, Pick 518 – Luke Nowak (University of Illinois at Chicago) → Kansas City Royals
Outfielder — Bats L, Throws L

Round 18, Pick 534 – Ethan Moore (Oak Park and River Forest) → Cincinnati Reds
Shortstop — Switch Hitter, Throws R
