Chicago Heights – It was a beautiful day on September 6 when the Argo Argonauts (0-2) traveled to Bloom Township High School (2-0) for their second game of the year.

Both teams held their own in the first quarter.

The first score came in the second quarter when Bloom’s Jordan Sanders threw a 33-yard dot to Javion Hatton, leaving the game at 6-0 going into the half.

In the third, Sanders helped his team down the field once he made a great pass to Isaiah Thomas on the sidelines. A few plays later Sanders would push the ball into the end zone via a 2-yard run.

It seemed like Argo was going to be out of it, but on the first snap of the fourth quarter, Bloom fumbled the rock. Hopping on it was Skylar Arellano-Phipps, who put the Argonauts in great field position.

The next snap saw Argo’s Chance Sanders flick a short pass to Axel Samaniego, who flipped it to Qassim Al-Jabri for a 28-yard touchdown.

Great defense by both teams kept each other out of the end zone the rest of the way.

FINAL: Bloom Township 12, Argo 7

The WCCN Player of the Game was senior quarterback Jordan Sanders, who had two touchdowns on the day, one passing and one rushing. He wanted to prove that Bloom is ready to make its mark this season.
