Naperville – Friday night just got sweeter for the Lincoln-Way East Griffins, who defeated the Naperville Central RedHawks 44–7, with Jonas Williams making history.
The senior quarterback threw two touchdown passes for 169 yards, pushing his career total to 127 and tying the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) record for passing touchdowns with Aurora Christian’s Jordan Roberts (2005–2008) and Greenville’s Tyler Hutchinson (2012–2014).

Williams accomplished the feat all before halftime, and sat out the second half, walking with a slight limp.
Even on a record-tying night, Williams kept the conversation focused on the team, the players around him, and the work they’ve put in.
“It’s a big deal,” Williams said. “It means a lot, but its not my main goal, I have a lot of other things to focus on, and I’m really just locked in on winning.”

Williams began his high school career at Bolingbrook, later transferred to Lincoln-Way East, and is now headed to USC.
Lincoln-Way East is now 5-0, and 3-0 in conference. Williams needs just one more touchdown pass to hold the state record by himself.
Jonas Williams was named the WCCN Player of the Game.
The Griffins hope their leader will break the record at home on October 3 against Metea Valley.
