On Friday, October 3, 2025, senior quarterback Jonas Williams of Lincoln-Way East broke the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) record for career passing touchdowns, reaching 131.

Last week, on September 26, Williams tied the IHSA passing touchdown record at 127. He was in a three way tie with Aurora Christian’s Jordan Roberts (2005–2008) and Greenville’s Tyler Hutchinson (2012–2014).

WCCN’s Nuha Abdessalam spoke with Williams after he tied the record on November 26. “It means a lot, but it’s not my main goal,” Williams said. “I have a lot of other things to focus on, and I’m really just locked in on winning.”

On October 3, he surpassed the IHSA record by throwing four touchdown passes for 292 yards in a win over Metea Valley.

FINAL: Lincoln-Way East 42, Metea Valley 6.

The victory also marked head coach Rob Zvonar’s 250th career win.

Lincoln-Way East is now 6-0, and 4-0 in the Southwest Valley Blue Conference.

Jonas Williams was named the WCCN Player of the Game.

The Griffins will face Homewood-Flossmoor (10/10), Naperville North (10/17) and Carl Sandburg (10/23) as they look to raise the passing touchdown record even higher.

Williams is committed to play at USC after the season.
