Richton Park – The IHSA Richton Park Regional Final was held on October 8, where the #7 Amos Alonzo Stagg Chargers faced off against the #2 Homewood-Flossmoor Vikings at Rich Township High School.
In the first quarter, it was all Stagg.
Juliane Roupas threw two touchdown passes: one a 51-yard strike to Veronica Perez, and the other a short toss to Raine Rispin in the back of the end zone.
In the second quarter, Roupas kept the ball in the red zone and was tackled making the score. On the following drive, Victoria Perez pulled the Vikings’ flag in the end zone for a safety.
Momentum shifted when Davae Satchell made an interception, giving HF great field positioning.
Paris Jones then led the Vikings’ offense with three touchdowns: two on the ground and one on a short pass to Khloe Daniels.
At halftime, the game was knotted 20 to 20.
In the third quarter, both defenses tightened up, and the pressure continued into the fourth.
With 8:58 remaining, Stagg was at the one-yard line.
Roupas took the snap and rushed into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.
FINAL: Stagg 28, Homewood-Flossmoor 20.
This marks the third consecutive regional final victory for the Chargers, but back-to-back under the new IHSA playoff format.
The WCCN Player of the Game was junior quarterback and safety Juliane Roupas, who had a standout performance with four total touchdowns: two passing and two rushing, along with two interceptions on defense.
On the defensive side for the Chargers, Stephanie Chandler and Rayven Brewer also made a major impact. Their relentless pressure on the quarterback was a key factor in securing the win.
