Oak Lawn — Two elderly siblings were found deceased inside a home in the 10000 South block of Maple Ave. on January 22 after police were called to conduct a well-being check.

Oak Lawn Police were dispatched at 12:02 p.m. when a healthcare worker requested assistance, after being unable to reach residents.

Inside the home, police found the siblings deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A firearm was also found inside the residence.

Investigators reported they do not believe anyone else was involved and that there is no indication the incident poses a risk to the public.

The siblings were taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.

When contacted at 11:04 a.m., on January 23, Oak Lawn Police Commander of Investigations Steven McNeela said no further information was available at that time.
