Chicago — It was a City matchup on January 27 as the Olive-Harvey Panthers (13-7, 4-0) hosted the Kennedy-King Statesmen (14-5, 5-1). The ladies put on a show that kept the crowd engaged all the way through the fourth quarter.
Both teams knocked down big shots in the opening two quarters, but the Panthers held a slight edge, leading 37-34 at halftime.
Kennedy-King was led by Rain McDaniel, who scored 15 points in the first half. Olive-Harvey’s Angel Dickerson paced the Panthers with 11 points.
The third quarter stayed competitive, with both teams trading baskets, layups, and deep threes. The Panthers maintained control, entering the fourth quarter with a 57-54 lead.
Olive-Harvey pulled away late, sparked by sophomore Khadijah Phillips, who scored 12 of her points in the final quarter.
FINAL: Olive-Harvey 82, Kennedy-King 72.
For the Statesmen, McDaniel continued to lead the way, finishing with 25 points.
For the Panthers, Phillips led with 23 points.
After reviewing the stat sheet, the WCCN Player of the Game was awarded to freshman forward and center Dijionna Berrien. Berrien scored 19 points, contributing consistently across all four quarters.
She spoke about maintaining consistency throughout the game and highlighted Phillips’ performance in the fourth.
WCCN also interviewed Olive-Harvey’s head coach Jeff Dillard.
