Oak Lawn — The battle between Oak Lawn Community High School (17-6, 7-2 SSC) and Harold L. Richards (12-9, 6-3 SSC) basketball truly lived up to its name.

Both teams came into the game with impressive records, and it showed from the opening tip.

Richards took control early and carried a nine point lead into halftime. The Bulldogs continued to add pressure in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 13.

However, something lit up Oak Lawn.

The Spartans began attacking the rim and crashing the boards. Just like that, the game tightened in the fourth quarter.

Senior Marc Harvey Jr. tied the game at 47 to 47, and on the next possession, Ben Delberto drained a three. It was a lead Oak Lawn would not give up.

FINAL: Oak Lawn 53, Richards 47.

For Richards, senior Jordan Shaw led the team with 12 points.

For Oak Lawn, senior Omar Saleh finished with 13 points, while senior shooting guard Marc Harvey Jr. added 12.

Harvey Jr. was named the WCCN Player of the Game for his late game contributions.

Being down big was nothing new for Harvey Jr. With the team’s intense practices, the Spartans had the mindset to keep driving and stay aggressive.
