Oak Forest Native Robbie Avila Helps Saint Louis Advance in March Madness

Buffalo, NY — Oak Forest native and 6-foot-10 senior center Robbie Avila contributed to the No. 9 Saint Louis Billikens’ 102–77 first-round NCAA March Madness victory over the No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs on March 19 at KeyBank Center.

Avila recorded 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks in 28 minutes of play, earning WCCN Player of the Game honors.

Another local athlete, junior guard Quentin Jones, also appeared in the game, finishing with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Will Cook County News is proud to cover athletes not only at the high school and local college levels, but also as they continue their careers on larger stages.

During the 2025–26 season, Avila earned Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Game honors and averaged 12.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 80.5% from the free-throw line.

In the 2024–25 season with Saint Louis, he averaged 17.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.

Avila began his collegiate career at Indiana State University, where he averaged 10.7 points per game as a freshman and 17.4 points per game as a sophomore.

At Oak Forest High School, he finished his senior season averaging 23.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
