Country Club Hills — It was a tough battle when the No. 2 seeded Hillcrest Hawks faced the No. 1 seeded Leo Lions in the Class 3A Country Club Hills Sectional Championship on March 6.
Throughout most of the contest, Leo held the lead, but in the fourth quarter Hillcrest began to claw its way back into the game when Anthony Bradley knocked down four three-pointers.
However, Leo’s core players Jeremiah Echols, Karon Shavers, Brian Kizer and Asa Harris stepped up down the stretch to secure the sectional championship.
FINAL: Leo 72, Hillcrest 64.

Bradley led the Hawks in scoring with 15 points.
For Leo, Echols finished with 11 points, Harris added 17, Shavers scored 18 and Kizer led the Lions with 19.
In the fourth quarter, junior point guard Asa Harris made six free throws to extend Leo’s lead and slow the tempo of the game. His performance earned him WCCN Player of the Game honors.
Harris said the team needed him to step up and that he wanted some redemption after last season.
