Country Club Hills — The Weaver Bowl really put on a show on August 21.
Traveling to face the Hillcrest Hawks, the Thornwood Thunderbirds put together a strong defensive performance, making big stops throughout the game.
The Hawks managed two turnovers, while the Thunderbirds came away with three.
Jayden Lester broke the score open for Thornwood with a 29-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter. Then, to cap things off in the fourth, Kenny Scott broke loose for a 50-yard rushing touchdown, running down the sideline to secure the 12-0 win.
The WCCN Player of the Game was Kenny Scott after his 50-yard touchdown.
After the game, head coach Tramaine Weaver spoke about the emotional victory and Scott highlighted his quarterback.
