Chicago — Under the blazing 82-degree heat, the Lindblom Eagles faced off against the Perspectives Warriors on September 12. Both teams came into the match undefeated at 3-0, but by the end of the game, one team’s perfect record would be no more.
A six-yard touchdown run by Malachi Boston put the Warriors on the board first in the opening quarter.
Lindblom wasted little time responding. Juel Prior found Ryan Willis on a 20-yard touchdown pass, giving the Eagles a 7-6 lead heading into the second quarter.
Boston continued to make an impact on the ground, punching the ball into the end zone from one yard out.
Just a few plays later, the Warriors forced a fumble and recovered the ball.
Perspectives added another score through the air as Brian Kirby connected with D’Carprio Turks on an eight-yard touchdown pass. The Warriors entered the fourth quarter holding an 18-7 lead.
With the Eagles facing a two-score deficit, Sebastian Lopez was able to kick a 27-yard field goal to bring the score closer.
Then Jonathan Cole provided a spark with a three-yard touchdown run, bringing Lindblom tied and keeping the game within reach.
Still, Boston had the final say. After already finding the end zone twice, the Warriors turned to their standout running back once more. Boston broke through for a seven-yard touchdown run, completing a three-touchdown performance and putting Perspectives firmly in control.
A fumble recovery by Perspectives helped seal the victory for the Warriors as the clock wound down.
Final: Perspectives 24, Lindblom 18.
WCCN named Malachi Boston the Player of the Game after his three-touchdown performance. Following the game, Boston credited his teammates and coaching staff for his success on the ground.
Making his first year as a varsity starter, Warriors quarterback Jeremy Davis also showed poise and made several key plays throughout the contest. Afterward, Davis kept his comments brief, highlighting one of his players, Turks, the future of his game plan and what coach tells them to stay focused.
